The Bay of islands is home to 150 islands, great for sport fishing, dolphin watching, sailing, and other watersports. The village of Paihia has  groceries, restaurants, medical facilities and active social opportunities.

The city of Whangarei is an hour south, and Auckland is 3 hours by car, or 20 minutes by commuter plane.
